Did Xenakis intend his gratingly dissonant music to express his personal hardships?
I enjoy, and have no problems with: 1. [Xenakis's pieces](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_compositions_by_Iannis_Xenakis#For_percussion_ensemble) for Solo Instruments (esp. tonal pieces like [*Six chansons pour piano*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_chansons_pour_piano)), Percussion (Ensemble), or String (Ensemble). 2. no more than a handful of Xenakis's [ensemble](https://www.reddit.com/r/ElitistClassical/comments/75f677/which_of_xenakiss_atonal_dissonant_pieces_for/do7hau0/) music like *Jonchaies*, *Keqrops*, *Pithoprakta*. 3. most (Post)Modernist composers like The Second Viennese School, Ligeti, Messiaen, Penderecki. I still hanker to like, and acquire taste for, Xenakis's Gratingly Dissonant Music (abbreviate GDM) excluded overhead, like *[Metastaseis](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metastaseis_(Xenakis)*. I ask the titled question to know if it explains why his GDM give me a headache, after a year of listening. But I found clashing answers as follows: ###Yes to the Titled Question 4.
